Health and Beauty

Tip: Start an exercise program. It will not only help tone your body, it helps to reduce pre-wedding stress.

On that most important day of your life, it’s true: all eyes are on the bride. You want to look your best for your wedding; that’s a given. So there may be lack of confidence moments when you think that you need a complete transformation before the big event! But a word to the caution: things can go wrong. For instance, your skin could have a bad reaction to new makeup, or a new hair colour may not work with your skin tone.

“She’s positively radiant!” “She’s “glowing!” “I’ve never seen her so happy!” Your beauty will shine from within on your special day. Your glow will come from the excitement of the event. And by having healthy habits when it comes to diet and exercise, and keeping makeup applications light and simple, you’ll achieve the inner glow that you envision. Aside from being more polished, wedding hair and makeup should not stray too far from what you look like in the everyday. That’s why a slightly enhanced version of your own stunning natural beauty, plus the joy and excitement you’ll radiate on the day of the wedding, are the only ingredients necessary.

One of the more popular weight loss companies recently conducted a survey to find out what women will do to lose weight. The thought of getting into a bathing suit, New Year’s resolutions, weddings and high school reunions proved the highest motivators. So you’re definitely not alone in wanting to lose weight for your wedding day. Most every bride-to-be does! But remember to be sensible and set achievable goals as fad diets can work against you.

In the months leading up to your wedding, the stress of planning it can wreak havoc on your immune system. A well-balanced diet will help to keep you healthy and feeling great. Regular exercise, that can even include brisk walks a few times a week, will work miracles in toning your body. These changes that you make now, should you choose to make them a habit, can benefit you and your groom in the long run.

What’s your type?

You want your skin to glow on the day of the wedding. If it isn’t glowing now, the changes you make to your eating and exercise habits will help. So will drinking at least a few glasses of water everyday. Getting the right amount of sleep for you is a must. When it comes to makeup, take a good look at your skin and make sure that your cleanser, moisturizer and toner are right for your skin type; and that they work well with your makeup. After all, you don’t want your skin to feel tight nor do you want it to be shiny. So do this now, to ensure that your skin is happy before the wedding.

Following your skin checkup, you may discover that all you really need is a new facial primer. You may also want to start an exfoliation routine or have regular facials at your favourite spa. Or, that you will take advantage of an on-site make-up professional who will put all the finishing touches not only on your make-up, but also on your bridesmaids, on the day of your wedding.

Ahhhh, the spa

Spending a day at a spa can be just the thing for you and your bridesmaids. It’s great fun and a big de-stressor. From full body exfoliation to aromatic body wraps, hydrotherapy to hot stone facials, full body to sports massages, manicures to pedicures, your spa day will be one of the most relaxing days. A tip: ask for a group discount for you and your wedding party.

Those pearly whites

A beautiful smile comes all the way from your heart. And what everyone sees, are your teeth. Make sure they also look their best on your big day. Do they need whitening? It’s good to check into this early to find out whether you want to have them professionally whitened, or whether you prefer home whitening kits or systems. Remember to check the length of time the whitening should last. This will ensure you have your most dazzling smile on your wedding day.

Your beautiful hair – and his!

Look in the mirror to find the perfect hairstyle for you. What’s the shape of your face, your height, the style of your veil, the style of your wedding gown? If you can’t envision what your hair should like on your wedding day, ask a professional and/or your hair stylist. A sophisticated bun, a chignon set off by tiny flowers, and even a French twist can be altered to fit the formality or casualness of the occasion and the style of your gown and veil.

For the groom’s hair, take a good look at him! If he doesn’t need a hair makeover before the wedding, and more than likely he’s perfect just the way he is because after all, you chose him to be your husband, a gentle reminder to him not to have his hair cut the day before the wedding may be in order. If your wedding is in the summer, as most weddings are, you won’t want his face or neck to have those nasty white tan lines!
